During the 2017 National NAACP Convention, it was announced Charles Hampton Sr. would serve as Interim MS NAACP State Conference President. Mr. Hampton previously served as 1st Vice President for the MS NAACP.
Charles R. Hampton, Sr. was, and continues to be, an active member of his community serving in many organizations. He was an executive committee member of Smith Steele Workers Union, executive board member of the A.O. Smith Credit Union, and executive committee member of the Milwaukee Branch NAACP. Upon returning to his home town of Louisville, MS, Mr. Hampton became a member of the Winston County Branch of the NAACP where he served as branch president.
Mr. Hampton was appointed by Governor Ronnie Musgrove to serve as a member of the Mississippi Prison Industries Corporation on February 24, 2003. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizen Academy. Mr. Hampton is a member of Mt. Sinai M. B. Church where he serves on the board of trustees. Currently, he is a board member of the American Red Cross.
