MS NAACP ANNOUNCES POSITION ON STATEWIDE BALLOT MEASURES: OCTOBER 27, 2020
Civil Rights Organization Urges Mississippians to VoteĀ āYesā on Ballot Initiatives One, Two, and Three
JACKSON, MS (October 27, 2020)Ā ā On Tuesday, the Mississippi State Conference NAACP, Mississippiās oldest civil rights organization, announced stances on three statewide ballot propositions that will be placed before voters for the General Election.
āThis year, the citizens of Mississippi have the opportunity to vote for momentous changes that will continue to propel our state forward. We encourage all Mississippians to take a look at each proposition and get out and vote in this critical election,ā stated Reverend Dr. Robert James, president of the MS State Conference NAACP.
The following are the MS NAACPās 2020 ballot recommendations:
Vote āYesā on ballot measure one ā On the first question, vote “yes” to approve either measure. Then vote for Initiative 65 on the second question, allowing qualified patients with debilitating medical conditions, as certified by Mississippi licensed physicians, to use medical marijuana.
Vote āYesā on ballot measure two ā Vote to remove Jim Crow-era provision from the state Constitution that requires a candidate for governor and other statewide offices to win the popular vote and the vote in the majority of the stateās 122 House districts to be elected.
Vote āYesā on ballot measure three ā Approve the new flag design to become the official Mississippi state flag.
