Markyel Pittman, publicly known as Kyel, is a proud native of the Mississippi Delta by way of Grenada, Mississippi. He is the son of Lenekia Pittman Kinney and James Harris. After attending Grenada High School, Kyel continued his education at Holmes Community College majoring in Pre-Law Legal Studies and Jackson State University majoring in Political Science. Pittman is now focusing on his future endeavors in Law School.
Pittman has served in many different capacities on his respected campus such as Mr. Junior, President’s List Recipient, Dean’s List Recipient, State President of the MS NAACP Youth & College Division, President of Fannie Lou-Hamer Pre-Law Society, President of the Pre-Alumni Council, Vice-President of Men of Excellence, Collegiate 100, CEO Ambassador, Mister Service Ambassador, Welcome Week Leader, Intervarsity, JSU Choir Director, and a Campus Ministry Lead. He has also proudly served as an intern for the Honorable Bennie G. Thompson in Greenwood & Jackson, MS. These leadership positions have given Pittman the zeal to advocate for the civil rights of minorities across the world.
Pittman believes that God has given him the voice, connections, and knowledge to take a stand for the oppressed. Kyel lives by the scripture found in Romans 8:31, “What shall we say in response to these things, if God be for us, who can be against us?”
