CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

In 2008, the NAACP Civic Engagement Department developed a 2008 Voter Empowerment Program (VEP ’08) a nonpartisan campaign designed to empower African American and people of color by increasing awareness and participation in the electoral process. The VEP ’08 Goal is to increase African American voter turnout by  5% more than the 2004 turnout.

 

MOBILIZATION STRATEGY IN 2012
In 2012, the NAACP launched “This Is My Vote” Campaign to concentrates efforts providing support in the following areas: Technical Assistance and  Training; Capacity-Building; Database Management; Research and Strategic Planning; and Public Messaging. Overall, the plan includes 5 components:

  1. Voter Registration
  2. Voter Education
  3. Election Administration
  4. Election Protection
  5. Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV)
