Shemekia Lacey Rankin

Superintendent, Wilkinson County School District

Ms. Shemekia Lacey Rankin is the current superintendent of Wilkinson County School District, where she is serving in her second year. A proud native of Wilkinson County, Ms. Rankin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Alcorn State University, a Master of Science in Guidance Counseling, and a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from William Carey University. She also completed the Mississippi Alternate Path to Quality School Leaders program through Hinds Community College Foundation.

With 22 years of experience in education, Ms. Rankin has worked across four districts along the Hwy 61 corridor. She began her career as an English teacher at Wilkinson County High School, later working at Port Gibson High School as an English teacher and guidance counselor. In Natchez-Adams School District, she served as a guidance counselor, district test coordinator, alternative school site administrator, and later as principal, virtual school principal, District MTSS Coordinator and Family Engagement Coordinator. She also held leadership roles as principal at Jefferson County Upper Elementary and Jefferson County High School. Ms. Rankin is committed to transforming her home district and is a proud mother of two, Desnick and Kimori.
