Dr. Sandra Nash is the Superintendent of the Claiborne County School District. Notably, she is the only the second female to serve in the position in the district’s existence. Dr. Nash has invested over 24 years in public education with 17 years spent in administrative roles to support students, parents, and families within the District.
Before she was appointed superintendent of the Claiborne County School District, Dr. Nash served as the Deputy Superintendent and Director of Federal Programs for 8 years. Dr. Nash has demonstrated her commitment to education throughout her career by serving as Acting Superintendent, Curriculum Coordinator, Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator, and high school mathematics teacher, all in Claiborne County School District. She taught math as a high school teacher in Selma, AL before joining Claiborne County School District in August 2000. Dr. Nash worked as an Adjunct Professor at Alcorn State University for seven years as well.
Throughout her career, she has developed a reputation for having high expectations for success and being an educational leader who is passionate about reaching our youth while providing an environment for students to thrive in school and in life.
Dr. Nash is a native of Port Gibson, MS, and matriculated in the Claiborne County School District. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Tougaloo College in Mathematics and master’s degree from Mississippi State University in Secondary Mathematics Education. She was awarded both her specialist and her doctorate degrees from Mississippi College in Educational Leadership. She is the daughter of the late James and Doris Nash.
