Rickey Jones is the Director of Small Business Development (SBA) at Jackson State University. He is responsible for leading client-relationship management, tracking new markets and emerging trends, proposing and developing new strategic partnerships, and guiding long-term objectives to meet business needs. Previous to his work with the SBA, Jones also worked in banking and finance at Trustmark National Bank, where this opportunity afforded him the privilege to engage and increase his professional capabilities in analyzing financial statements and structuring budgets and balance sheets.
Jones also serves on the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Board of Commissioners. A familiar face in the metropolitan Jackson area, Jones is known for his sharp skill sets and organizational knowledge. As a focused and highly motivated management professional with more than 20 years of extensive experience in business, banking, and finance, he has actively served his community throughout the years by generously giving his time and talents while serving others.
His deeply-rooted involvement in professional and civic organizations is quite extensive. Jones is the President of the 100 Black Men of Jackson, Board Chair of the Jackson Hinds Library Commission, VP of West Jackson Community Improvement Association, and member of the NAACP, Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, and the Jackson Rotary. He prides himself on being able to create opportunities for mentees of the 100 Black Men of Jackson in the Jackson Public School System, and the ability to share his skills to motivate students to soar in business and entrepreneurship.
Jones is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Management, the Mississippi School of Banking and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizen Academy. He is a lifelong member of Fairfield M.B. Church and serves on the Trustee Board. He counts himself to be fortunate and blessed to be able to give back to his community, and he adheres to one of his favorite scriptures, II Corinthians 9:6, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
