Dr. Willie Tobias, Jr.

Dr. Willie Tobias, Jr. has spent the last fifteen years working in pastoral ministry. He served as the Pastor of Progressive Morningstar Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi for ten years prior to his current pastorate. In April of 2018, Dr. Willie Tobias was elected as the Senior Pastor of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. He serves as the Vice President for the Jackson District Congress of Christian Education, Mission Secretary for the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of MS, Inc., and District Chaplain for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. Tobias was fortunate to have realized his faith in Christ at an exceedingly early age in McComb, MS. As a result of his upbringing, memories of his faith are among his earliest. He is a born again Christian and he was always found in the church, considering the fact that his father was an ordained minister who pastored in the McComb area. Today, he claims nothing but Christ’s righteousness as his foundation and His blood as security for his salvation.

Rev. Tobias received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Belhaven University, a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Practical Theology from Indiana Wesleyan University. In May of 2023, he graduated from Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson MS with a Doctorate Degree in Ministry Leadership. His dissertation, “Education in The Black Church,” has become extremely personal for him.

Dr. Tobias has been happily married to the beautiful Monica Thomas Tobias for the last 15 years. They have been blessed with two daughters, Taylor Nicole Tobias and Londyn Kayelee Tobias. Dr. Tobias motto is: “GOD is good, even when we are not.”
