Taylor Turnage is a native of Byram, MS and is an alumna of Tougaloo College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She currently serves as the Youth Program Director at MS Votes. Taylor was driven to take her talents to MS Votes because of her passion to progress the state of Mississippi and help build the future leaders of this country.
Taylor has been a leader in her community for almost a decade, having served on the executive committees of multiple organizations such as the NAACP and AAUW. Having served as a past Youth & College State President, Taylor is proud and grateful for the tools and opportunities that she received from being in the NAACP. Because of this organization, she is always ‘Fired Up and Ready to Work!”
In 2020, Taylor was a leader in the largest protest in the state since Freedom Summer of 1964 that led to the removal of the old Mississippi Confederate Flag. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, where she was initiated into the Gamma Psi Chapter at Tougaloo. Her favorite quote to live by is:
“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
