JACKSON, MS (October 27, 2020) – On Tuesday, the Mississippi State Conference NAACP, Mississippi’s oldest civil rights organization, announced stances on three statewide ballot propositions that will be placed before voters for the General Election.

“This year, the citizens of Mississippi have the opportunity to vote for momentous changes that will continue to propel our state forward. We encourage all Mississippians to take a look at each proposition and get out and vote in this critical election,” stated Reverend Dr. Robert James, president of the MS State Conference NAACP.

Vote “Yes” on ballot measure one – On the first question, vote “yes” to approve either measure. Then vote for Initiative 65 on the second question, allowing qualified patients with debilitating medical conditions, as certified by Mississippi licensed physicians, to use medical marijuana.

Vote “Yes” on ballot measure two – Vote to remove Jim Crow-era provision from the state Constitution that requires a candidate for governor and other statewide offices to win the popular vote and the vote in the majority of the state’s 122 House districts to be elected.

Vote “Yes” on ballot measure three – Approve the new flag design to become the official Mississippi state flag.
